Pattern Revisions

I got notes from two designers this week about pattern revisions and updates: Phydeaux's Twist Cowl pattern was slightly revised to make the twist in the pattern easier to manage, and Leila and Ben's Sweet Little Baby Dress was updated for simpler sewing.

If you've bought either (or both!) of these patterns from Magpie and you'd like a fresh, new, revised copy, send me an email, and I'll get one right over to you.

The revised versions are on the web site now, so anyone who would like to purchase the patterns at this point will automatically get the new versions.

Play Time!

Designer, Sweetie Pie Bakery, has created the cutest patterns for felt toys, and we have a selection of them in the shop now...

Doughnuts (this pattern comes with a box too!)

Doesn't that look like fun (to make and to play with)?

Meet Emilie Rebekah

We've got some cute new patterns in the shop today from Emilie Rebekah Patterns.

Just think, you could pair one of these patterns with fabric from Super Buzzy, The Fabric Bar, or Purl Soho, all of which have great sales going on right now, and have a lovely holiday gift at the ready!

Two New Phydeaux Designs Patterns

Attention fans of the Twisted Cowl: there are two new Phydeaux Designs patterns in the shop!

Don't you just love how she photographed this beauty?

(The Granite and Antique Figs Cowls are a two-for-one pattern.)

There's still time to knit a couple of those for holiday gifts (and one for yourself, of course)!

Estonian Flowers

I just added this beauty to the shop and I can't wait to try one out myself. Something tells me that they'll be completely addictive to make.

For more ideas on colors and details, check Marianne's blog. It's (mostly) in Estonian, but the pictures, as she points out, are worth 1000 words!

More Nani Iro Love

Isn't this dress adorable? Just look at that sweet collar!

Perhaps in this fabric?
Or this!
Hmm, or poppies...

Jump over to the shop to download your own free pdf copy of the pattern (translated into English - again many, many thanks to the fabulous Fabric Bar!).

Fancy Fingerless Gloves

Aren't these lovely?

I'm lucky enough to live somewhere that gets chilly in the winter, but not so cold that you absolutely have to have gloved or mittened fingers (with the general exception of a few days a year). So I tend to either leave my gloves stuffed in my pocket or wear them, but take them off to do just about anything.

These patterns by Frouge's Art offer the perfect solution to that little dilemma.

And, most importantly, they're so pretty!

Delicious Fabric

Free Pattern - Sweet and Simple Baby Hat

Knit up this sweet and simple baby hat in less time than it would take to find one as cute in a store...

Wouldn't it just be yummy in this yarn (I just noticed that that listing is for 3 months of yarn)? Or this one (bamboo!)? This oneor this...ok, I should stop now or I'll be at this all night!

Happy knitting!

New in the Shop! Sew Liberated Patterns

Ok, I admit that I ordered these patterns from Sew Liberated because I thought each would look so cute on someone in my family. Nevermind that I have a stack of projects half a mile high that I'm already working on...

But still, after all the holiday crafting, seven or so unfinished sweaters, and half dozen, half-finished special requests from my five-year-old, maybe I could the tunic done in time for Spring...

For the Love of Jane!

I'm expecting a new shipment of Jane Richmond Designs patterns and all I have to say is the sooner they get here, the better! These patterns are so popular - and is it any wonder? Just look at how awesome they are. You know they'll turn out because there's nothing fussy about them and you know they'll look great on because there's so much style in the designs.

I've got my needles poised and my eye on that Oatmeal Pullover...

Don't You Think...

...that this adorable pattern from Follow the White Bunny is reason enough to take up embroidery?

I've been an embroidery admirer for a long, long time, always thinking I'd learn someday. Whenever I've tried my hand at it (adding eyes to dolls, a few flowers to a skirt, etc.) I've been very pleased with both the experience and the results.

But I've always shied away from a whole image.

This one, however, is just too cute to pass up! So the time has come for me to give it a shot. I'll post the project when it's done (if it's post-worthy, of course).

Any pictures of your embroidery projects sent as encouragement will be much appreciated!

Free Pattern

The wonderful and amazing women over at The Fabric Bar have started translating Nani Iro's free sewing patterns from Japanese into English. And they've very generously offered to share!

So here is the first one, super cute and much easier now that it's in English!

Since I don't know how to upload PDFs onto the blog you'll have to jump over to the store to get the pattern...

More to come!

Lovely Lillebarn

I had my eye on Lillebarn's lovely knitting patterns long before I had a pattern shop (or a third, surprise baby on the way!). You see, I never got the hang of swaddling, even though I've had two children to practice on, and when I saw this pretty little swaddler - knit no less! - I thought it was pure genius.

And then there are all these adorable hats! One of which I'm pretty sure could be knit up in a matter of minutes...

New in the Shop! Leila and Ben Patterns

I love these patterns by Leila and Ben for so many reasons: sweet and simple lines let the fabric do all the work, they're adorable without being cutsie, they're totally practical for children (nothing that would make them difficult to get on or off, no long, hazardous strings, etc.) and best of all, they're PDF's, so there's no waiting! Just print them out and head to your favorite local fabric store (or swing by your favorite online fabric store) and you're in business.
