So, after my initial visit to
Dottie Angel, where granny is trés chic, I suddenly and overwhelmingly fell for granny squares. Yep.
I mean, how cool, right? Ok, so here's the crazy thing: I don't know how to crochet. Sure, I can add a simple trim to a sweater, but that's it. I have no idea how to make a granny square. {Bad crafter!}
So, in order to right that wrong, I'm turning to
Martha. Where else?
My first project? This gorgeous little bookmark. And if all goes well, there just might be an entire blanket in my future!
Happy crocheting!

I'm not fond of granny squares, however, after seeing your posting, I think I have changed my mind! I LOVE the first one!
Amy, so funny you're posting this. I've been working on a post about granny squares as well -- should publish next week on the blog. I was never a big fan of the granny squares, but I recently have become more aware of how cool they can be. I love the stuff you found and will link to your post in mine. Thanks for the inspiration, as always!
What fab pictures, the granny makes are gorgeous - I love the stool covers x
Crocheting is easy peasy, and you'll love how fast it coms along!!

Thanks everyone! I look forward to your post Jenny!
Please tell us how this goes - I would love to try this sometime but have never felt brave enough. :)
I have had a weird thing for granny squares as of late...I always hated them growing up and all of the sudden I made a cute hat and I've started a messenger bag for my daughter from granny squares...go figure.
Creative Design and angie, isn't it funny how our tastes change? I think sometimes just seeing how someone else has interpreted something can do it for me. Like that blanket! Who knew granny squares could be so lovely? ;)
Granny Squares we're the first thing I ever learned to crochet! SO this bookmark is a great place to start :) I know from a lot of experience, my own as well, that people are sometimes put off by the multi colouredness of this type of a blanket...but squares can be made with 1 colour and sewn together to make a solid colour blanket...there's a versatility here that is often overlooked - Have fun!
